through my lens
Growing up, I was always interested in photography. My father was my main inspiration, as he documented our whole lives through his lens. From photoshoots to home videos to pictures of everyday life, I was always in front of the camera. In middle school, I discovered I also liked being behind the camera. In 7th grade, I was gifted my very own Canon Powershot SX610. From that point forward, I can’t remember a time when I didn’t have a camera with me. My dad taught me everything about the art, and by high school, I was completely enthralled with both photography and videography.
By the time I was applying to my major, it seemed I had to make a choice: fashion or photography. I chose fashion. As I learned more, I realized I could combine my two biggest passions. Through capturing photoshoots and creating videos for projects, I realized that my infatuation with both art forms could coexist. Being the person who both creates and captures the art is a feeling of contentment I won’t find elsewhere.
