art in fashion

I think my love for art history began in the seventh grade when I visited the Magritte Museum in Brussels, Belgium. I was mesmerized by all of his paintings; they looked like scenes from a dream. I can still visualize the paintings, their soft glows and pastel colors, transforming the museum into a distant fantasy.

From the time I started art school, I knew I wanted to blend fashion with art history. A print-inspired project offered me the perfect opportunity to do so. Magritte’s dreamy clouds, The Son of Man painting, and the recurring Blonde Woman were my main inspirations. I was also influenced by The Garden of Earthly Delights and Heraclitus’ Unswept Floor Mosaic, both of which I have visited in person and adored for years.
